Abstract
Abstract
In spite of the tendency to glass formation large single crystals of LiBGeO4 could be obtained from the melt at very low cooling rates. The crystals were optically clear in parts of at least 1 cm3, but always twinned parallel {112}. LiBGeO4 was found to be strictly tetragonal with the probable space group I4, which does not confirm earlier results of Ihara. LiBGeO4 was assumed to have a cristobalite-like structure.
