Abstract
Unconventional Computing (UC) denotes new and alternative methods and technologies for computer technologies, e. g., nanocomputing or DNA computing. This paper investigates the importance of UC for the Grand Challenges of Computer Engineering. At the moment nanocomputing appears to be the most promising UC discipline. As example for an UC method the use of redundant arithmetic and reversible logic for nanocomputing is presented.
