Classification in Child Psychiatry

Abstract

Following an earlier study, the G.A.P. classes are categorized as “open”, “definitive”, and “residual”, the last comprising the Reactive Disorders and the Developmental Deviations. The kinds of case which should be considered within these last classes are discussed, and the close theoretical relationship between them is clarified. This leads to a proposed revision of the definition of Developmental Deviation, and to a summary restatement of Healthy Response, Reactive Disorder, and Other Disorders.
