Abstract
AbstractThe function of gesture paving the way and affecting the acquisition of language and communication is evident. Building a robust vocabulary is a key task in early language development. At the same time, it serves as a basis for further language skills and successful communication. For word learning, iconic gesture in specific has been shown to have a beneficial effect. Certainly, this effect is of particular interest in light of intervention for children acquiring a first or second language with difficulty.
