Organization of the ,,Thrombosis Service” in the Netherlands

Abstract

SummaryThe working schedule of the Thrombosis Service at Utrecht, which was founded in 1949, is discussed.In the Netherlands the Red Cross stimulates the organization of thrombosis services in the towns of some importance. At this moment there are about 9 of such services at work, not all of which are organized by the Red Cross. Some statistical results of the Utrecht Service, calculated over 7 years, are presented.It appears that it is indeed possible to lower the mortality in myocardial infarction considerably by the application of long-term treatment.
