Abstract

The purpose of this case study was to explore if LEGO SERIOUS PLAY (LSP) could be an effective tool in reflective practice for undergraduate Health and Social Care Higher National Diploma students. This action research study commenced in September, 2022, and was conducted at the University of Bolton during the first semester of the ‘Principles of care’ module. A large percentage of the students that participated in the class activity were healthcare assistants that were working in hospital and community settings. Findings from this study suggested that investigation of play using LSP improves students' ability to reflect upon past experiences, which may subsequent enhance their capacity for reflective practice.
