Abstract

Key Points Sickle cell patients show mitochondrial dysfunction (complex V inhibition, oxidant formation), which is associated with platelet activation. Complex V inhibition is induced by hemolysis and causes platelet activation, which is attenuated by mitochondrial therapeutics.
