Abstract

Key Points Gpx4 is essential for preventing anemia in mice via inhibiting RIP3-dependent necroptosis in erythroid precursor cells. ROS accumulation and lipid peroxidation in erythroid precursor cells trigger receptor-independent activation of necroptosis.
