Abstract

Abstract The infusion of phospholipids containing platelet factor 3 activity or of Inosithin (soya bean phospholipid) in animals previously given thorotrast in the attempt to block the reticuloendothelial system, resulted in histologic changes and in severe alterations of the clotting mechanism. These morphologic and analytical alterations of the clotting system could not be distinguished from the findings observed in animals undergoing the classical generalized Shwartzman reaction produced with two injections of endotoxin.
