Abstract

Abstract Investigations of extramedullary foci of hematopoieses demonstrate that, in human beings, the extramedullary hematopoiesis in the fetus at term is more pronounced in the mammary glands of the female than in those of the male. The author suggests the possibility that there may be a connection between the location of the foci, and the liability of metastasis in cancer, especially in mammary and prostatic cancer.
