Abstract

Two novel 2D oxychalcogenides, AEGe2O4Se (AE = Sr and Ba), were designed using a partial substitution strategy which exhibits the coexistence of a wide band gap (Eg > 3.1 eV) and a large birefringence (Δn > 0.2).
