Regio(ir)regular naphthalenediimide- and perylenediimide-bithiophene copolymers: how MO localization controls the bandgap

Abstract
Regio-regularity has negligible impact on the optical spectra of naphthalene- and perylene-diimide-bithiophene copolymers (NDI-2T, PDI-2T), due to localized frontier (F-)MOs. In PDI-2T the FMOs are localized in PDI, while in NDI-2T they are largely localized in the respective donor/acceptor units.
