Abstract

Near-infrared-emitting cyclometallated iridium(iii) complexes bearing a heteroaromatic methylsulfone moiety were designed as sulfhydryl-specific reagents to target cysteine-containing biomolecules for bioimaging and photocytotoxic applications.
