Abstract

Atomic-level in situ exploration unravels a non-equilibrium process on the insertion of lithium ions into graphite. This finding reports a non-equilibrium scenario different from classic Rüdorff–Hofmann (R–H) and Daumas–Hérold (D–H) models.
