Abstract

An NHC-aryloxide hybrid ligand-bound aluminum complex and its zwitterionic imidazolium precursor catalyze the ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone through two different mechanistic pathways with and without benzyl alcohol as a cocatalyst.
