Biological control ofS-nitrosothiol reactivity: potential role of sigma-hole interactions

Abstract
S-Nitrosothiols, ubiquitous biological derivatives of nitric oxide, can engage in σ-hole/bonding with Lewis bases, which, in combination with hydrogen bonding with Lewis acids, could be the basis of enzymatic control ofS-nitrosothiol reactions.
