Abstract

A novel hydroamidocarbonylation reaction of 1,3-diene is developed. Starting from easily available 1,3-dienes, CO and amides, the facile and economic synthesis of a variety of β,γ-unsaturated imides is showcased. The developed catalyst system ([Pd(cinnamyl)Cl]₂/Xantphos) is shown to be robust and selective under such reaction conditions.
