Abstract

The nucleation, growth and faceting of Fe₃O₄–Au nanoparticles is systematically monitored using liquid probes during reaction. Two consecutive processes are obtained, the growth of Fe₃O₄ spheres on Au seeds and faceting towards octahedral motifs.
