Abstract

A saddle-shaped tetrabenzotetrathia[8]circulene was synthesized by a “fold-in” type oxidative fusion reaction of an ortho-phenylene-bridged cyclic tetrathiophene, which exhibits fluorescence at room temperature and phosphorescence at low temperature.
