Abstract

We demonstrate Mn-defected γ-MnO2 as photocatalyst for synthesis of vanillin in aqueous environment under room temperature. The ˙OH species on Mn-defected γ-MnO2 act as reactive oxygen species for oxidation of vanillyl alcohol into vanillin.
