Abstract

Inspired by the bird nest, we develop a hydrothermal approach to prepare MoS₂/carbon hollow microspheres with a carbon inner shell and a vertically aligned MoS₂ outer shell, which show an excellent performance for reversible alkali-metal ion (Li⁺, Na⁺ and K⁺) storage.
