Abstract

A cage assembly consisting of an axially symmetric nonpolar octahedral [Zn6L8] core exhibits an interesting multifunctional luminescence and ferroelectric order at room temperature. The ferroelectric response originates from the toggling of nitrate anions and solvate molecules found in pockets between the cages.
