Abstract
Right- and left-handed polyproline type I helices in cyclic dodecapeptoids are observed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Five consecutive cis residues bridged by trans residues are stabilized by backbone CO⋯CO interactions and CO⋯HC hydrogen bonds; intramolecular backbone-to-side chain C5 CO⋯HC hydrogen bonds also emerge as a stabilizing factor.
