Abstract

A single-atom-based tandem photocatalyst (In2O3/Cu–O3) is fabricated for efficient CO2-to-ethanol conversion. The electronic interaction between Cu and In promotes C–C coupling of *CO (on In2O3 site) and *COH (on Cu–O3 site) to form OC–COH species.
