Abstract

Both LaF₃ and the in situ formed LaH₂ enable the reversible hydrogen sorption in NaBH₄. Comparative studies show that La-B phases play the major role for the regeneration of NaBH₄ in both the NaBH₄+LaF₃ and the NaBH₄+LaH₂ composites while the substitution of F^- for H^- results in more favorable thermodynamics in the NaBH₄+LaF₃ composite.
