Abstract
X-ray absorption spectroscopy allowed elucidation of reversible interconversion of copper ions to nano-size Cu0 and retention of the manganese oxide framework upon cycling of copper birnessite in lithium batteries, rationalizing the enhanced capacity over copper-free birnessite.
