Abstract
The simplest α,β-unsaturated sulfinyl radical CH2C(H)SO˙ has been generated and characterized with matrix-isolation IR and UV/Vis spectroscopy. In addition to the cis ⇋ trans conformational interconversion, its photochemistry and bonding properties have been disclosed.
