Abstract

A versatile approach towards 2-hydroxy-2-substituted indol-3-ones via a copper-catalyzed radical cyclization of 2-arylethynylanilines in the presence of O2 has been developed. The products can be transformed to 3-hydroxy-3-substituted indol-2-ones.
