Abstract

The peculiar structure of the Yb3+:CsGd(MoO4)2 crystal leads to cleavage slices suitable for microchip lasers, large ground-level splitting and high transition cross-sections, while the gain bandwidth is broad enough to generate sub-100 fs laser pulses.
