Abstract

A sulfonic acid-functionalized zirconium-based coordination catalyst (Zr-BDC-S60) containing Zr4+–O2−pairs and –SO3H groups showed satisfactory catalytic activity and stability for the one-pot reductive etherification of HMF to BIPMF.
