Chemically triggered release of 5-aminolevulinic acid from liposomes

Abstract
A zinc(ii)-dipicolylamine coordination complex acts as a chemical trigger to release 5-ALA from stealth liposomes and allows uptake into neighboring mammalian cells for conversion into fluorescent PpIX.
