Abstract

An ionic liquid Mg electrolyte (MMAC-IL) is conveniently prepared by mixing MgCl₂, AlCl₃, Mg, and Pyr14TFSI. The MMAC-IL electrolyte with its great ionic strength can significantly suppress the shuttle effect of magnesium polysulfides and enabled a stable Mg–S battery.
