Abstract

A novel phosphine-mediated α-umpolung/Wittig olefination/cyclization cascade process between o-aminobenzaldehydes and Morita–Baylis–Hillman (MBH) carbonates has been ingeniously developed for the facile synthesis of a broad range of 2-vinylindolines.
