Abstract
In Mg–S batteries, MgCl2 is an ideal anionic salt. Ratios of Mg2+ and Cl− in S-reduction complexes differ, which are 1 : 1 and 1 : 1.3 in DME solvent. In THF solvent, the Mg/Cl ratios are 1 : 2 and 1 : 1.5. DME may perform better with a low Mg/Cl ratio, while THF may excel with a high Mg/Cl ratio.
