Abstract

A methyl sulfonyl radical generated from DMSO in the presence of catalytic Cu(i) under O₂ atmosphere is used to carry out methyl sulfonation of C–C unsaturated bonds to afford β-keto methyl sulfones and (E)-vinyl methyl sulfones.
