Abstract

A carborane-fused four-membered boracycle bearing an electron precise B–B bond is synthesized via the reaction of 1,2-Li2-o-carborane with B2Br4(SMe2)2, which can be used as a “strain-release” reagent to achieve diboration of alkenes and alkynes.
