Abstract
A selection of toxicology cases, investigated by the author, is discussed to illustrate the broad range of cases that can be encountered by a forensic toxicologist. Emphasis is placed on the application of basic principles to address out of the ordinary problems and the utilization of non-standard toxicology methods drawn from other areas of forensic science. Contrast has been drawn with a few historic cases, albeit to illustrate the adage that nothing, at least in human behaviour, is new under the sun.
