Scale-up in Chemical Engineering

Abstract

Engineering data are often presented in dimensionless form. Applying this data to a particular problem in hand is a form of scale-up. The dimensionless form is obtained by dimensional analysis. This chapter will show how dimensionless variables (groups) are obtained from primary variables, demonstrates the advantages and limitations of dimensional analysis and shows how to obtain and use engineering data in dimensionless form.
