Abstract
PurposeCoworkers' positive attitudes toward working with people with disabilities is vital for the successful and long-term employment of people with disabilities. The purpose of the present study was to examine the organizational factors associated with working with individuals with disabilities.MethodThis was accomplished by sampling coworkers without disabilities (N = 262) using hierarchical regression analysis.ResultsThe perceived benefits of having workers with disabilities in the workforce was found to be the strongest predictor for positive attitude toward working with people with disabilities, followed by good health mission and do good expectations.ConclusionsThe findings of this study will contribute to developing effective interventions to enhance employee's positive attitude toward working with people with disabilities.
