Abstract

Endotracheal tubes are misplaced more often than one may think, and the consequences of not quickly detecting and correcting the error can be catastrophic. In the pediatric and adult populations, end-tidal CO2verification of endotracheal tube placement is considered to be the standard of care. An understanding and use of the technology available are essential for all health care professionals to allow them to provide optimum care for their patients.
