Abstract
PARENTAL PRESENCE IN THE NICU is the foundation for parent-infant attachment. It is also essential if parents are to learn how to care for their child. Therefore, nurses are justifiably concerned when parents do not visit frequently. This column identifies the reasons why nurses are concerned, the reasons why some parents may visit less frequently than others, and interventions that nurses can use to facilitate parental visitation.
