Abstract
IntroductionGuidance to assist in establishing a precise breast flange fit can be found in previously published nipple diameter research, case observations of pumping subjects, and in manufacturer’s flange-fit recommendations.MethodsThe nipple diameters of 11 exclusively pumping individuals were measured with either a standard ruler, ruler with a circular diameter, or coins, and variations were observed that required reconsideration of the flange size.ConclusionsGLactation professionals in practice need to consider variations in nipple diameter and systematic ways to measure nipples should be explored with exclusively or near-exclusively pumping individuals.
