The title compound, 2C5H14N3

2−, is an easily accessible salt with a relatively low melting point. The asymmetric unit consists of a Te0.25Cl1.5 fragment and half a cation. Weak hydrogen bonds of the type C—H...Cl and N—H...Cl are present in the crystal structure.
