This publication is based on using reliable sources from world-renowned databases, relevant organizations, and web resources. The authors used qualitative research methods, in particular, the method of organic search. In addition, the theoretical-methodological analysis, comparative method, logical-epistemological analysis, and normative-value method made it possible to reveal the peculiarities of the security potential of the European region due to the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. R e s u l t s . Since regional security has a systemic nature, the state of scientific development of the problem of increasing the security potential of the region was considered through the prism of subsystems of regional security, namely legal, institutional, economic, informational, social, and others. The European experience of ensuring the security of the region is grounded on democratic values, certain norms of documents and organizations, and the participation of supranational structures. However, after the escalation of the war in February 2022, the European community overestimated the level of security in its region, which is currently protected by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. С o n c l u s i o n s . Ukraine's role was recognized as a candidate for membership in the European Union. The European region feels the consequences of the Russian invasion through cultural, economic, energy, and other threats. This feeling forces the EU leadership to review the elements of regional security and focus on transformations. The last authors of this article identified the refusal of excessive centralization, the implementation of systemic reforms, and the formation of a transnational defense institute.
