Child Labour in Pakistan: Way Out Analyzing Constitutional Mandate

Abstract

Child Labor is the worldwide social issue. The poor economic and literacy conditions of the parents influences their children to indulge even in hazardous work. Pakistan like other countries is suffering such social problem. In one way or other, the national laws including constitution and international laws as adopted are focusing this issue. These all have paid special attention for the physical and intellectual development of a child in Pakistan. The Constitution has pledged for the prohibition of child labor and free compulsory education for children as fundamental rights. The similar is the essence of children’s welfare related constitutional principles of policy. However all these legal measures due to having certain basic differences in them and certain missing features could not have addressed the child labor properly. Of course, adopting a uniform legislative policy having compatible mode of contents, may possibly be effective in reducing child labor phenomenon in Pakistan.
