Abstract

Recently, there has been an increase in interest in social entrepreneurship as a phenomenon that addresses the resolution of social problems as a central aspect of business. This interest is also reflected in academia, through the significant increase in research on Social Entrepreneurship Intentions (SEI). With the purpose of contributing to the review of scientific production on SEI, the objective of this work is to carry out a systematic review of the literature on this topic, covering publications to 2023 and carry out an analysis of performance and scientific maps using the VOSviewer software. The review carried out is based on 377 articles published in journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. The results confirm both a growing interest in the topic in question, mainly in Social Science journals, and that the interest is shown in a multitude of countries, with China, followed by the United States as the main countries in the ranking of contributions. From the relational analysis, the existence of a dispersed authorship network emerges, except for those ones led by the most prolific authors. Finally, the keyword concurrency analysis obtains a nodal network with 6 clusters, highlighting the educational context as recurrent, with the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Mair and Noboa Model as prevalent approaches. In addition, they highlight the importance of personal variables in entrepreneurs and the relevance of addressing social concerns such as Covid-19 and sustainability.
