1. Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium. Genomewide association study of 14,000 cases of seven common diseases and 3,000 controls. Nature 447, 661–683 (2007). This is a proof-of-principle paper that initiated the GWAS era. It developed many methods and set standards for future GWAS performance and interpretation. It also set an important precedent by making data publicly available; the control genotype set alone from this study has been used in hundreds of GWASs.
2. Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium & Australo-Anglo-American Spondyloarthritis Consortium (TASC). Association scan of 14,500 nonsynonymous SNPs in four diseases identifies autoimmunity variants. Nature Genet. 39, 1329–1337 (2007).
3. International Genetics of Ankylosing Spondylitis Consortium. Identification of multiple risk variants for ankylosing spondylitis through high-density genotyping of immune-related loci. Nature Genet. 45, 730–738 (2013).
