Identifies PDGF as a chemotactic factor for fibroblasts. This paper is also an excellent resource for understanding how to distinguish between haptotactic, chemotactic, chemokinetic and mitogenic responses when studying cell motility, as well as understanding why it is important to do so.

Challenges fundamental assumptions that underlie directed cell migration by showing that local signalling in lamellipodia generates small protrusions towards the source of the guidance cue as the basis of chemotaxis in vitro , rather than protrusions being directed by global integration of competing signals.
