1. A Practical Beginner’s Guide to Cyclic Voltammetry

3. The start and final potentials
are normally the same but can be different, and the triangular potential
can be done one or more times which is called multiscan CV.
4. For
example, when the
scan rate is 50,000 V/s, the timescale of the CV experiment is on
the order of microseconds, and when the scan rate is 0.005 V/s, the
timescale of the CV experiment is on the order of minutes.
5. Cyclic
voltammetry is
a well-known technique for analysis of coupled chemical–electrochemical
reactions. For example, the CV experiment can be performed in a solution
including only the reduced form (Red.), where the forward scan (ES to ESw) generates
the oxidized form (Ox.), which undergoes a chemical reaction. The
extent of the chemical reaction depends on the timescale of CV experiment,
determined by the scan rate. In the backward scan (ESw to EF), the remaining Ox.
molecules, that reduce back to Red., can be determined by analysis
of reduction peak current.
