4. (a)α-KInSnSe4was prepared from a stoichiometric mixture of K2Se, In, Sn, and Se that was sealed under vacuum (∼2 × 10-4mbar) in a fused silica tube. Well-formed yellow needle-shaped crystals ofα-KInSnSe4suitable for single-crystal X-ray investigation were obtained by forming a melt at 850 °C and cooling at −10 °C/min to room temperature.
